Celebrating the life of David Myers

Robert David John Myers of Dubai passed away peacefully, after a short illness, surrounded by his family on 13th January 2021 aged 67.

The son of Philip and Hazel Myers, David was born on 7th June 1953 in Shropshire. He was awarded a BSc in electrical and electronic engineering at Swansea University in 1977. David was hard working and had a colourful career spanning: British Aerospace, mining and sales, before hitting his stride in executive recruitment.

He moved to Dubai in 2003 where he met his wife, Rita Li Guo who he married in March 2017. Before his illness David and Rita, together with step daughter Hui Hui, had many plans together, for a well deserved retirement.

David was a real socialite and had a passion for seeing his friends, enjoying music and living life the best he could. He loved to travel and was well known across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He was widely recognised for his quick wit, great sense of humour and boisterous yet questionable singing ability, as well as being incredibly kind and generous to all his friends and family. David loved sport, a great supporter of Welsh rugby and Liverpool football club.

David was preceded in death by his father, Philip. He is survived by; his mother Hazel, his wife Rita, step daughter Hui Hui, former spouse Maija and their children Stuart and Laura, step sons Carl and Mark and their families, brother Steven and many cousins and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held on Monday 18th January and after the service a video will be posted on line. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request charitable donations in memory of David to Cancer Research UK.
